Dr. Venkatesan Meenakshi Sundaram, B.E., M.Tech., Ph.D., SMIEEE is an accomplished academician and researcher currently serving as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Puducherry. With over 26 years of teaching and research experience, he has made remarkable contributions to the fields of Database Systems, Data Mining, Data Science, Big Data, Geo-Spatial Data Science, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Analytics, Generative AI, Quantum Computing, and Quantum Machine Learning. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering and possesses strong proficiency in R, Python, AI Studio, and Jenni AI for data science and machine learning applications. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram has held several significant academic and administrative positions, including Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, Sponsored Research Coordinator, and Industry Consultancy Coordinator. His international academic exposure includes serving as a Visiting Faculty at Monash University, Clayton, Melbourne, Australia (July–November 2006), and a visit to the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan (October 31–November 3). He has successfully led multiple funded research projects supported by reputed national agencies such as DST, ISRO, and ICPS-DST, including projects on GIS-based early warning landslide models, big data analytics training programs, AI for remote sensing applications, and multi-graph anomaly detection in social networks. His German patent titled “System to Accelerate Fake News Detection Using Quantum Machine Learning” stands as a testament to his innovative research capabilities. Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal papers, 29 conference papers, and 4 book chapters, in addition to editing a Springer volume titled “Cognitive Data Science Methods and Models over the Internet of Things (IoT)” under the Lecture Notes in Data Engineering and Communication Systems series. He has also served as a Guest Editor for the International Journal of Web-Based Communities (Inderscience Publishers) for a special issue on Advances in Web Search and Analytic Approaches for Big Data. As a thought leader in his field, he has delivered numerous invited talks and keynote lectures at DST, AICTE, IEEE, ISTE, and ICMR-sponsored workshops and faculty development programs. A distinguished professional, Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram is a Senior Member of IEEE, and an active member of ACM, ISTE, and CSI. His sustained academic excellence, leadership in funded research, and pioneering work in emerging technologies such as Generative AI and Quantum Machine Learning continue to inspire the next generation of researchers and technologists across India and beyond.
