Karren Khaw is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Finance at the Monash University Malaysia. She holds a doctoral degree from Massey University, New Zealand. Her academic career includes prior appointments at the University of Waikato, based at its joint institute in Hangzhou, China, University of Malaya and Universiti Utara Malaysia. Karren’s research focuses on corporate finance, particularly corporate governance, risk-taking, and debt financing structures. Her interests expanded to the growing fields of ESG and sustainable finance, highlighting her dedication to advancing sustainable development in the finance sector and beyond. She has completed six research grants—four as a principal investigator and two as a co-investigator—and currently leads two ongoing grants focused on sustainable growth among Malaysian SMEs and sustainable finance.
